Hey everyone! We hope you’re having a very nice spring, despite the weather changing its mind constantly.
We want to remind you that in one week, Pittsburgh Taiko is proudly presenting our first (of hopefully many) Spring Concert! That’s Friday, April 6th at 7:30pm. It’ll be hosted in Bellefield Hall on the University of Pittsburgh campus, which is located on S. Bellefield Ave (surprise!) between Forbes and Fifth.
The facebook event page is located here! Share it with everyone you know!
Admission is completely free, and it’s gonna be a blast, so bring all your friends!
We also have a last minute announcement (sorry for the short notice)! We’ll be playing at the Japanese Student Association’s Matsuri on the CMU campus today! Please come out and enjoy drumming, food, and the other festivities they have lined up.
That’s it for now! Back to practice, practice, practice to give you the best show ever!
Before I get to our biggest news, we’d like to thank everyone who attended the February beginner sessions. We hope you had as much fun as we did, and we congratulate everyone on a job well done. おつかれさまでした!!
We don’t have any more beginner sessions planned just yet, but if you’re interested, please check back a little later on. We’ll update you as soon as we confirm the next sessions!
Now I’ve already spoiled the news in the title, but Pittsburgh Taiko is pleased to announced our first concert for Friday, April 6th! The time is tentatively set at 7:30pm, and the location is Bellefield Hall, on the University of Pittsburgh campus.
We’re all very excited and we hope that you come!
We’re still banging away at the drums, here at PT. What else would we do?
I’d like to announce the addition of a new page on the website, the Performance List! If you’re curious about what sort of events we’re planning to do, or what we’ve done in the past, look no further than this.
Would you look at that! We’ve played at a lot of places, haven’t we? I can hardly believe it!
Of course, we’re always happy to perform for you, so if you’re interested, click ‘Booking’ up at the top!
Do you know what else? We also have lots of fun teaching workshops for all ages! Seriously, we’ve hosted events for everyone from elementary school kids to teachers! You’re never too young or old to play taiko.
One final thing: Do remember that Beginner Sessions are rapidly approaching! If you have an interest in trying your hand at kumidaiko, don’t hesitate to
We apologize for such a long delay in updates, but it’s been a very busy few months for us. Since our last talk, we’ve found a new home at the Winchester Thurston School! We greatly appreciate everything that they’ve done for us, and we recommend checking them out (click on their logo to the right). In addition, we’ve added a few new songs to the line-up, and we’re working to compose even more! I hope you’re as excited as we are about them.
In the past few months, Pittsburgh Taiko participated at the Winchester Thurston School Applefest and the Japan-American Society of Pennsylvania Annual Dinner, just to name a few! As always, we’re excited to play for you, so if you would like to request a performance, just click ‘Booking’ right above this post.
We’re very excited to announce PT Beginner Sessions are starting in February! You’ll find information on them right here, so please click through if you’re interested in learning more details and signing up.
(UPDATE: Thank you everyone for your interest! Beginner Sessions have ended for the spring. We’ll let you know as soon we schedule more!)
I think that’s everything for now, but I hope that we’ll be back soon to tell you even more!
It’s been a long time without an update, due to website upgrades, but now we’re finally back! And we have new performance news!
Pittsburgh Taiko will be performing this Sunday, May 15, as part of the Asian Heritage Day festivities at Kennywood! We will be performing at 4 PM at the Kennyville stage (the stage by The Potato Patch). If it’s raining, then we’ll be performing at Pavilion 5 (in the Jack Rabbit Picnic Groves, by the Sky Rocket & Garfield’s Nightmare).
Come and see us perform, along with a bunch of other great performers! There will be lots to see on the stage beginning at noon on Sunday. And, while you’re at it, have some fun at Kennywood!
