Covid-19 Safety

What to know before registering for a class with Pittsburgh Taiko

Because taiko involves physical exertion and yelling, and our studio space is small, it’s important to have rules that keep our classes and practices safe during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

As a small performing group, it's also important for us to avoid having all of our members get sick at the same time before a show!

When you register for a class or join a practice, you agree to comply with these requirements:

  1. All participants are required to wear properly fitted masks in the building and practice area (except for short periods when drinking or snacking).

Note that for rehearsals or practices that involve shinobue (Japanese flute), flute players will be unmasked while playing.

  2. Please don’t come to class if:

    • You feel sick
    • You know you’ve been exposed to COVID-19
    • You have COVID-19

  3. If you contract COVID-19, please don't come to class or practice until your home antigen test is negative.

  4. If you notify us before class, we can offer a remote attendance (Zoom) option, or a recording of the class session for any classes you can’t attend. We also can schedule a customized catch-up session later when you’re ready to return.

We strongly suggest that students and members take advantage of available vaccines and boosters.

If you have questions about these policies, please email us: pitt.taiko@gmail.com
